This chapter presents an in-depth analysis of the letter by Francesco da Sangallo, published in 1550 as an appendix to Benedetto Varchi's "Lezzione sulla maggioranza delle arti", under the light of the artist's interest in Dante Alighieri and his artistic relationship with Michelangelo Buonarroti.
