Abstract
Adelyn Gunawan interviews Christopher Aw about his experiences with food as a crucial energy form during his time living in Hawaii, Singapore, and different cities across the United States. Chris discusses supermarkets, personal decision-making around food, and his attempts to reduce meat consumption. He describes his perspective as a tech investor with interests in vertical farming, aquaculture, hydroponics, and other frontier technologies. Chris discusses his carbon footprint, carbon offsets, and the politics of guilt, and compares the culture of responsibility in Singapore and the United States. The conversation turns to the American diet and its adaptations overseas, including when he served in the US Air Force in Germany. Finally, Chris and Adelyn discuss the politics of eminent domain and the state's role in the clean energy transition.
