Abstract
"In this beautifully written, thoroughly researched, and incisively articulated thesis, Taylor examines the various underlying philosophical perspectives that shape the responses of Christian theologians, ethicists, and activists to AI and the imminent “intelligence explosion.” He executes close readings of Christian scholarship focused on AI, particularly on its moral standing vis-a-vie humanity and in relation to god. In so doing, he explores the concepts of human intelligence grounded in human exceptionalism from the perspective of leading Christian theologians and ethicists and elucidates the varying degrees of receptivity to AIs as beings worthy of moral standing among scholars that fall under the broad umbrella of Christian scholarship."
