Abstract

Do public policies relating to voter registration impact rates of voter registration and voter turnout? In this professional thesis, I use machine learning techniques to explore state voting policies interaction with rates of voter registration and voting. I find that policies relating to school interventions, especially those relating to civic education, seem to be having the biggest impact on voting outcomes. My project is a component of the background research executed by Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE) in service of their larger analysis on voter registration.
