Description

In this dissertation, the development of several novel organic synthetic methods featuring the functionalization of C−H and C−C bonds was described by using transition metal catalysis, including the Pd-catalyzed β sp3 C−H sulfonyloxylation of alcohols, the Pd-catalyzed γ sp3 C−H arylation of free primary amines, the Pd-catalyzed α-arylation of cyclopentanones, the Rh-catalyzed β sp3 C–H functionalization of ketones, and the Ir-catalyzed C−C cleavage of unstrained ketones driven by aromatization.
