Description
This thesis explores the duality between the precision and discovery experimental strategies, with focused case studies in the phenomenology of the lepton sector. The complementarity of the two approaches is highlighted through an exploration of flavor violation in scenarios of extended Higgs sectors, and of theories in which the electron Yukawa is enhanced. In these cases, precision experiments offer probes that can help explore well-motivated scenarios, broadening experimental coverage of parameter space. Later, we describe cases where the paradigm can be inverted, in particular when precision experiments may be used to conduct discovery searches for intermediate-scale hidden sectors. Together, these studies highlight the blurring of the line that separates precision and discovery experimental search strategies.
