Description

The Nazi Junkerschulen was a formal education system meant for instructing SS cadets and disseminating carefully curated ideology throughout the entire organization. The Junkerschulen were active for almost the entire length of the Regime: 1934-1945. When considering the Junkerschulen, how did a formal education system impact the mentalities of SS recruits? How did the ideology itself change as the goals of the Regime changed? This thesis explores the creation of the Junkerschulen infrastructure, the interactions between ideology and the Nazi SS, and how these interactions shifted across three major periods of the Regime: 1933-37, 1937-39, and 1939-45.
