abstract = {Scholars interested in understanding how Black immigrants1 integrate in the United States have noted that several factors influence how the negotiate their ethno-racial identities. From refusing the process of racialization to class differences, several studies have demonstrated that the negotiation process is complex and nuanced. Although race-relations have also influenced how they negotiate their identities, they are scant research that center how awareness of structural violence could influence this process. This project examines how the awareness of generalized violence against Black people in the United States shapes the ethno-racial identities of African immigrants in the United States.},
